Wallpaper Patterns for your Powder Room
Wondering how to bring some personality into your powder room? Experiment with wallpaper choices. I love using wallpaper in a powder room since it is a small, defined space. You don’t have to worry about finding a natural end point to stop the paper since it’s a fully enclosed room. And with the small square footage, you can afford to get a little creative with textures and patterns.
We recently finished a custom home with this beautiful floral print in the powder room. With a bright, neutral palette throughout the house, this was just the right addition to make the space stand out!
When you’re looking for powder room paper options, consider these 3 tips:
Consider how much this space is used. If it’s the main guest powder room with a lot of traffic consider vinyl with a pattern to hide wear and tear. Or if you have small kids, this is also a great choice to stand up to those cute but yucky little hands. Peel and stick wallpaper options have come a long way recently - these are good options for a true powder room but if you have a shower, you’ll want to stick with a paste wallpaper instead.
Compromise with your partner. If one of you is ready to try a bold pattern while the other wants more neutral, compromise with wallpaper on top and board & batten on the bottom. The wood holds up well in a main powder room and you still get a striking wallpaper pattern on the top. Win win!
Plan for a successful installation. Leave wallpaper installation to the pros. Before they come, be sure your walls are prepped with any holes patched and a clean, smooth, dry surface. Be sure any electrical work for sconces or light fixtures is completed beforehand as well. Installation typically just takes a few hours and required 24 hours to cure. Then you are free to hang mirrors and art and enjoy!
